FLASHES OF NIGHTMARE
Anthology of Horror Flash Fictions with the theme of "Nightmares"
Wicked Shadows Press invites horror flash fiction submissions for publication in its anthology "Flashes of Nightmare" (Expected release: June 2023). The final date of submission is April 23, 2023
PLEASE NOTE that this is an anthology of horror stories with a theme and limited word count. ONLY those horror fiction submissions whose storylines feature a "nightmare", and adhere to word count specifications, shall be considered for publication.
All Horror sub-genres are invited.
WE ARE ACCEPTING
Nightmare-themed Horror Flash Fiction: (between 50-1500 words) Send no more than TWO flash fictions per submission. All horror subgenres shall be considered.

Choose from the following writing prompts or submit a story with a brand new plot of your own!
A young girl with a gift for weaving intricate dreams finds herself trapped in a never-ending nightmare that she can't seem to escape. Was she the one to create it, or is there another, unseen dream weaver?
A woman with a sleep disorder is plagued by terrifying sleep paralysis every night. One night, she realizes that the demon haunting her nightmares might not be a mere figment of her imagination.
A woman is plagued by ominous nightmares that feature shadowy figures coming to get her. As she comes to terms with the strange occurrences happening in her real life, she realises that these shadow people represent real people from her own life.
A delightful circus appears in a young boy's dreams every night. As he learns the tropes of the trapeze and delves deeper into the dreamworld, he realizes that the audience are all sinister creatures who feed on fear, and the boy is their prime attraction.
A woman with the ability to enter other people's dreams is hired by the family of an Alzheimer's patient to catch his recurring nightmares. As she delves deeper into his subconscious, she realizes that the root of the nightmares is a dark incident in the man's past

We are accepting TRANSLATED WORKS as well. Submission of translated works must be accompanied by a statement declaring that the translator has obtained the author’s permission and their publisher’s, if required.
Simultaneous Submissions are welcome but the author must inform us by e-mail as soon as the submitted piece is accepted elsewhere. Pieces cannot be withdrawn once Wicked Shadows Press informs the author of its acceptance for publication.
We consider reprints but only publish them if they are absolutely exceptional.
At present, we are unable to pay our contributors. However, each contributor shall receive a COMPLIMENTARY DIGITAL COPY of the anthology as soon as it publishes.

Please submit only original pieces. Wicked Shadow Press or the editor/s of the anthology shall not be responsible for any disputes arising out of copyright infringement.
Each piece MUST be attached with a short bio of the author, preferably within 100 words, and if possible, a photograph of the author to go along with publication.
NOTE: We typically reply within a month after receiving submissions. However, replies can be delayed under unforeseen circumstances.
