Anthology of Dark Fiction

Wicked Shadow Press invites dark fiction submissions for publication in its anthology "Wreckollections" (Expected release: December 2024). The final date of submission is October 13, 2024
We are seeking short stories for an upcoming anthology that explores the dark and twisted nature of regret, betrayal and the haunting weight of terrible memories. From the echo of past sins to the torment of wrong choices, we want stories that dive deep into the lives of those who can never escape what they’ve done.
We’re looking for tales where consequences can’t be buried and redemption comes at a terrible price—or not at all. Show us protagonists confronted by the true cost of their actions, moments where morality fractures and the darkness lurking within us all.

A father mourns the death of his young child, all the while knowing that one simple choice of his could have prevented his child's terrible fate.
A woman has vivid visions of committing violence from eras ages before her birth. She visits a shady psychiatrist to understand if she's been glimpsing memories of her past lives.
There are Memory banks in clouds to stash away your darkest memories. When cops show up and question you about a missing woman, you are compelled to finally check out your wreckollections.
An elderly business mogul remembers a pivotal moment in their youth when they sacrificed their morality for success, and wishes that they had chosen a different path.
A smartphone somehow attains sentience when it's used to record an exorcism. Now it contemplates the nature of life, consciousness and evil, as it waits for the dark video to be eventually deleted.
She lost her memories in an accident three years ago and rebuilt herself as a kind, ideal person. But when someone she deeply wronged returns, she’s forced to confront the dark truth of who she truly was.
WE ARE ACCEPTING:
Flash Fictions: (between 50-1500 words) Please send no more than TWO flash fictions per submission.
Short Stories: (between 1500-8000 words) Please send no more than ONE fiction per submission.
We are accepting TRANSLATED WORKS as well. Submission of translated works must be accompanied by a statement declaring that the translator has obtained the author’s permission and their publisher’s, if required.
Simultaneous Submissions are welcome but the author must inform us by e-mail as soon as the submitted piece is accepted elsewhere. Pieces cannot be withdrawn once Wicked Shadow Press informs the author of its acceptance for publication.
We consider reprints but generally do not publish them unless they are absolutely exceptional. Please mention in the mail body in case your submission is a reprint.
At present, we are unable to pay our contributors. Each contributor shall receive a COMPLIMENTARY DIGITAL COPY of the anthology as soon as it publishes.

Please submit your files in the following formats: .doc /.docx /.txt. DO NOT submit PDFs.

Wicked Shadow Press uses non exclusive rights to publish in its anthologies. Authors are free to republish their work anywhere else once it has been published.
Please submit only original pieces. Wicked Shadow Press or the editor/s of the anthology shall not be responsible for any disputes arising due to plagiarism or copyright infringement.
Each piece MUST be attached with a short bio of the author, preferably within 100 words, and if possible, a photograph to go along with publication.
NOTE: We typically reply within a month after receiving submissions. However, replies can be delayed under unforeseen circumstances.
